Every Sunday morning we have gatherings for your children that invite them to experience God and encounter His love and power through worship, teaching from the Bible, and growing friendships with other kids.
Our Nursery children (infant – 3 years) learn from the Bible and are prayed for weekly. We also have a Comfort Room available during the service for mothers and infants.
Explorers (Pre-K and Kindergarten) and Quest (Grades 1-5) will soon be engaging in a curriculum being developed by our Children’s Pastor and wonderful teaching team!
Check-In and Security
We are excited to be rolling out our NEW Check-In System called KidCheck in February 2018! This system will greatly speed up the check-in process for families, as well as strengthen our security and communications.
Our volunteers are one of the most important pieces of our ministry to children. Whether it’s through focused prayer over an infant, engaging in creative play with toddlers, animating a Bible story for a group of Kindergarteners, or facilitating worship and prayer with 3rd graders - we are leading them to lead. We desire our volunteers to be equipped and encouraged in their acts of service to the Lord and the families of OLCC.
If you feel called to be a part of stewarding the discipleship and care of our children, please contact Micki Hargrave via email at firstname.lastname@example.org indicating a desire to be a part of this ministry for the Church.
The requirements include:
• a personal relationship with Jesus
• a willingness to serve on a monthly rotation
• passing a federal background check
• attendance of one training a year that is done on a quarterly basis
Sunday Morning Nursery
Infant to 4 years
Our nursery rooms are set up and equipped for age-appropriate activities. We use Bible stories, songs, crafts, and prayer in all the nursery rooms — we even read and sing to our infants!
And we pray. Every kid in every room is prayed for, from infants on up. In the one- year-old-room, children start praying on their own and by the threes and fours they are beginning to pray (very simply, of course!) for each other.
Children's Worship Gatherings
PreK and Kindergarten
In this worship gathering, kids start by doing activities that introduce the Bible lesson, and sing and worship together. We’ll pray for each other and then finish off with fun interactive play that goes along with the lesson.
Grades 1 – 5
We start this gathering with Testimony Time, where kids are invited to share something that God did in their life that week, an answer to prayer or any way they stepped out in courage. We then move to an opening game or a time of encountering or listening to God that introduces the message for the morning.
We then move into a lesson that teaches from the Bible. After the lesson, we break into small groups by age and gender — these are our D Groups (Discipleship Groups) for our kids.
In the small groups, we review the lesson, have a time when they can journal and listen to God about the truth they just heard, and work with God and each other to apply the lesson to our lives. This is where we really focus on praying for each other and learning how to listen to God for each other.
Then all the groups gather back together for an ending game and fun.
