Greystone Elementary or John Marshall Mid-High | 2017-2018 School Year
Do you have a desire to make an impact in the lives of students and teachers at Greystone Elementary or John Marshall Mid High? Here are the current options to be involved.
Greystone Book Club:
VOLUNTEER FOR BOOK CLUB AT GREYSTONE BRILLIANT BOOK CLUBS
Brilliant Book Clubs is a lunch break book buddy program for at-risk Elementary Schools in Oklahoma City. We mobilize local church volunteers to meet in these schools with two to three students during their lunch break to talk, eat, and read a book together. Book Clubs help kids catch up with their reading level, greatly increasing their chances of making it to high school graduation and out of poverty. Learn more at www.brilliantbookclubs.com!
IT ONLY TAKES 30 MINUTES A WEEK
Only 30 minutes each week for a school year during your lunch break
If you can read at a 6th grade reading level, you can be a big help to these kids! olunteers choose which age (Pre-K through 6th grade) and the lunch time (usually 10:30am-12:30pm) at an Elementary School in need. We will take them through a few easy pre-requisites in the application process to make sure that the volunteers are trained and equipped to be a book buddy. Then we will partner them with 2-3 students to meet with in their choice lunch period. It's super easy!
When you sign up to volunteer in our schools, you will be emailed about our easy steps to be a book buddy:
1. Fill out application through the district
2. Fill out application for Brilliant Book Clubs
3. Attend a short training meeting
The Our Lord's family has decided to partner with these two schools to invest in the lives of children in our community. If you are interested in any of the following opportunities at either school, please fill out the form below, and Lindsay McClellan will contact you.
