The OLCC family is not limited to the people who go to church at OLCC on Sunday mornings. We have extended family who are “devoted to Christ, being and making disciples of Jesus” all over Oklahoma, the United States and the world.
Once a year we reunite to celebrate the God who has sent us, refresh and encourage each other, and set our hearts ablaze with love for our King in worship and prayer.
This year Von Golder will be joining us from Disciples of Jesus (DOJ) Church in Tirana, Albania. Von was one of the first two church planters in Albania after the fall of Communism in 1991. His heart and life bear the marks of a genuine follower of Jesus. DOJ Church continues to send out church planters into areas all across the Baltics.
Our theme is “Discovering Jesus’ Passions.” Jesus hugged lepers, cooked, wept, laughed, made doors, and sweated blood. He thought up baby smiles and weddings, engineered galaxies and designed flowers. He invited fishermen to real fishing and prostitutes to real love. Amazingly, Jesus invites us to join Him in similar divine acts of compassion. Yet somehow we easily dilute our faith down to getting the Lord involved in our priorities (which are also important), while remaining oblivious to His. The fallout can be that our connections with the Lord become fleeting and our joys hauntingly temporary.
This Missions Celebration will be about how to continue breaking this cycle of emptiness by joining Jesus in what He would love to do in and through us, whether at home or in Syria. It's about discovering which of Jesus' passions you carry in your heart, and taking the next steps toward it.
